When the SHTF, this is the armor you want to be wearing.  Durable, and capable of stopping all common North American rifle, shotgun, and pistol rounds.  Plus, we've tested our armor with semi-armor piercing ammunition, and it barely dented it!  Complies with MIL-46100 Rev E. for class 1 armor and passed the test against a 30 Caliber Armor Piercing bullet at 2426 fps as tested at the US Army Aberdeen Test Center.

Stops:  5.56, .223, 7.62x39, 308 Winchester, .357 mag, .45 cal, 9mm, 12 Gauge Shotgun slugs, and more.  All of these rounds were fired from semi-auto AR-15s, AK-47s, MAK-90s, Glocks, Revolvers, and pump shotguns.

These 6x6"  plates are formed from 1/4" Abrasion Resistant Brinell Hardness 500 steel (AR500), the same variety used by the military in armored vehicles.  We laser cut each piece and add a 20 degree bend that conforms to the human torso.  After preparing the metal, we add a special  1/4" polymer  coating that serves to trap bullet fragments.

The 6x6 size fits most plate carriers including our own VIPER Modular Carrier and Defender.  We, of course, recommend purchasing a carrier from us; but, if you already own a carrier, these plates will likely fit.

Each plate only weighs 2.7 pounds including the weight of the anti-spall coating.

I bought a set of front and back plates and a carrier about a year ago, and decided that I really ought to add the side plates so that I've got a complete set with maximum reasonable coverage. The side plates are what they are - curved steel plates with a polymer coating. Nothing fancy - and just as simple and effective as it gets. Do they add weight? Sure, of course they do. What surprised me though, was that the carrier distributes the weight in such a way that the added weight isn't a significant factor. The point here is that if, like me, you were hesitating to get a set of side plates due to the added weight to an already-heavy armor system, you can scratch that excuse off your list. When the added protection is balanced against the added weight, you will find that the added protection from these side plates is well worth it. For this kind of quality, the price is just not a factor - for less than the price of yet another tacticool gadget to hang on your rifle, you can greatly inc

Very pleased. I purchased the basic Viper Modular Plate Carrier w/front and back armor plates back in January. I decided to go ahead and get the side plates but was a little worried that the side pockets would be too small. Yet, when I got them, they fit perfectly. I am glad I got the complete rig, as I didn't want to be lacking if some ill-advised and hasty legislation, banning armor, comes into being.

Very satisfied. Plates are very heavy, but far more durable than lighter ceramic. Consider your needs and buy accordingly. I preferred durability over lighter weight. These plates fit Osprey mark 4 carrier perfectly.
